The choice of the most appropriate software for discovering the network topology depends on the company’s size and on the available budget for the IT department. In any case, such software, as any other programs, has to meet some general requirements:
1. The program has to have a trial period in order to give the system administrator an opportunity to evaluate its features.
2. The support has to be highly professional and qualified, and has to be given in time by e-mail or over the phone.
3. The program’s interface has to be comprehensive and comfortable to use.
Today, almost any profession is connected with computers. And it is impossible to meet the typical “point-to-point”, “bus”, “star” or “ring” topologies. Perhaps only in rather small companies you can find them. Usually, if a company hires new employees, the amount of used network devices is grows too. Sometimes, network devices are added randomly.
